What inspired me to write this song?
I composed and arranged this ballad for Daniella Mass, an incredible vocalist from Colombia. Daniella has appeared on America’s Got Talent and many musical TV productions all over the world. Naturally, she has her own YouTube channel as well, where you can check out more of her music. Daniella writes music herself and does covers as well, mainly in the classical-crossover genre. Daniella has a beautiful soprano voice with operatic flair, and she can also sing more pop-oriented songs as well. I decided to develop an instrumental version of the song, with the expectation that lyrics and lead vocals would be added at a later point in time. The song was intended, however, to showcase her vocal abilities.
Composition Notes – Music Theory
The song is written in the key of A major, and slips in and out of relevant minor and dominant chordal/arpeggiated harmonies. The piano, winds and the guitar trade off on the chordal arpeggios. There are rising and falling dynamics, with the song rising to a tutti finale.
